Founded 1948

WELCOME! We are an all-volunteer fire and EMS first response company (Station 2) located in Ruckersville, Virginia. Ruckersville is a Census-designated town in Greene County, centered around the intersection of VA Route33 (Spotswood Trail) and VA Route 29 (Seminole Trail).

Our History

In the late summer, early fall of 1947, a huge fire broke out in the small town of Ruckersville, Virginia. The only two businesses that were in Ruckersville at the time were "Lindsey Garage" and "CC Jennings Gulf Station". When you have a big fire, especially in a small town, it will naturally draw a lot of attention. It wasn't until after this fire that members of the community decided that there was a need for a local fire department. In the months following that fire and through early 1948, the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company (RVFC) was formed. The first Officers introduced for the newly formed RVFC was,  N.S. Lindsey(Chief) and Otis Haney(Assistant Chief).

Our Missio

The Members of The Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company shall strive to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the community of Greene through fire suppression services, pre-fire planning, and public education. We will serve this community to the best of our abilities and training. We are committed to continuously improve our understanding of the properties of fire and the fire prevention needs of our residents, the community of Greene, the surrounding counties, and the state of Virginia.
