History
In the late summer, early fall of 1947, a huge fire broke out in the small town of Ruckersville, Virginia. The only two businesses that were in Ruckersville at the time were "Lindsey Garage" and "CC Jennings Gulf Station". When you have a big fire especially in a small town, it will naturally draw a lot of attention. It wasn't until after this fire that members of the community decided that there was a need for a local fire department. In the months following 1948, the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Company (RVFC) was formed. The first Chief Officers in 1948 were N.S. Lindsey - Chief and Otis Haney - Assistant Chief.
